Transient Apron

Lakewood Airport, NJ

Lakewood Airport (FAA LID: N12) is a public use airport located three nautical miles (6 km) southeast of the central business district of Lakewood, in Ocean County, New Jersey, United States. The airport is owned by Lakewood Township. Lakewood Airport covers an area of 192 acres (78 ha) at an elevation of 43 feet (13 m) above mean sea level. It has one runway designated 6/24 with an asphalt surface measuring 2,912 by 60 feet (888 x 18 m).

The area surrounding the Terminal Building at the airport is used for based and transient aircraft tie-down.  The transient apron had deteriorated to a point of immediate repair. DY Consultants conducted the design and construction management for the rehabilitation included a new 15” pavement section consisting of a 7” subbase layer, 4” crushed aggregate base course, and 4” of bituminous surface course.  The rehabilitation was constructed in the same footprint with no additional impervious pavement.  The drainage hydrology was maintained to prevent any surrounding areas in the proximity of the apron from being affected.

Nineteen aircraft parking positions with tie-downs were provided for based and transient aircraft operations with sixteen parking positions dedicated to typically light, single-engine aircraft and three for twin-engine aircraft
