Gate Allocation Modeling – Technical Review

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Washington

The Port of Seattle completed planning work and associated documentation for the Sustainable Airport Master Plan (SAMP) for Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in May 2018. SAMP identified a package of improvements to accommodate near-term activity (SAMP Near-Term Projects) which are currently in environmental review. In the course of SAMP planning, the Port’s consultant conducted gate allocation modeling to determine gate requirements using Design Day Flight Schedules developed for 5-, 10-, 15- and 20-year forecasts. Following completion of the SAMP, a major air carrier conducted its own gate allocation modeling using two consulting firms and shared the summary results with the Port.

DY Consultants was tasked with undertaking a technical review of the various gate allocation analyses and providing an independent assessment to the Port. DY Consultants submitted a technical report summarizing the analysis and the conclusions to the Port’s Counsel Team.
